A THRIVING CAREER

Veronica “Vicky Jones is a practicing attorney with over 33 years experience. As a mother, volunteer,  and small business owner, Vicky understands the legal issues that we face. Her passion for our community, professionalism, ethics, and knowledge of the law have led to long-term success in the legal field. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987 and her Juris Doctorate degree from Paul M. Hebert (LSU) Law School in 1992. Jones began her career as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Judge (Retired) Bonnie Jackson and was employed by the City of Baton Rouge, Office of the Parish Attorney (City/Parish) in 1994. While employed at the City/Parish, Jones was an Assistant City Prosecutor until 2010 and served as the criminal and appellate section chief. The position of Appellate Section Chief afforded Jones the unprecedented opportunity to argue before the Louisiana Supreme Court 6 times. In 2010, she transferred to the civil division and served as the Senior Special Assistant Parish Attorney for the personnel division until her retirement in 2015.

After Jones retired from the City/Parish, she devoted her full attention to her private law practice (Veronica “Vicky” Jones, Attorney at Law, LLC), which she opened in 1995. In private practice, Jones’ primary focus has been Family Law (child support, custody, visitation issues, and domestic violence), Personal Injury, and Estate Planning. She has dedicated her career to advocating for the welfare of children and families and has devoted much of her time to protecting their interest.

Jones has practiced at every level in courts throughout Louisiana and has argued cases before the Louisiana Supreme Court, the First Circuit Court of Appeals, and United States District Court Middle District of Louisiana. She has tried cases in district courts in East Baton Rouge Parish, Orleans Parish, Jefferson Parish, Iberville Parish, West Baton Rouge Parish, Point Coupee Parish, Calcasieu Parish, Rapides Parish, St. Martin Parish, St. James Parish, St. John the Baptist Parish, Ascension Parish, Assumption Parish, Livingston Parish, East Feliciana Parish, West Feliciana Parish, Lafayette Parish, and Tangipahoa Parish; and has also represented litigants in East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Court and Gretna Juvenile Court. In 2020, Jones also served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Louisiana Workforce Commission to help adjudicate the backlog of cases resulting from the pandemic.

Jones is the very proud mother of Donovan Alexander Bailey, who is a recent honor graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and law student of Southern University Law Center. Vicky has been involved in youth sports, youth mentorship programs, social, civic and community organizations and programs in  East Baton Rouge Parish for over thirty years.
